Bovine plasma lipid concentrations in machine- milked cows during early lactation period
نویسنده
چکیده
1 SUMMARY In this study ten machine milked cows (MM) and ten suckled +hand milked (HM) Holstein cows were studied for plasma lipid concentrations. Used blood samples were collected from the jugular vein of the cows on the last day of the second (2 and fourth (4 week of the early lactation period.Total lipid levels were lower in MM treatment for second and fourth week (P<0.05) but triglyceride and cholesterol rates of plasma were similar for both groups during study (P>0.05). Further researches are needed to improve the interpretations knowledge of about lactation biology in machine milked cows considering the reasons for lower plasma total lipids.

Decreased concentration of plasma leptin in periparturient dairy cows is caused by negative energy balance.
Dairy cows suffer from an intense energy deficit at parturition due to the onset of copious milk synthesis and depressed appetite. Despite this deficit, maternal metabolism is almost completely devoted to the support of mammary metabolism. Evidence from rodents suggests that, during periods of nutritional insufficiency, a reduction in plasma leptin serves to co-ordinate energy metabolism. As an...

ative to calving, and twice weekly postpartum. Plasma were analyzed for triglycerides (TG), total cholesterol, lipoprotein cholesterol and fatty acids. Changes in plasma lipid concentrations during the periparturient period were characterized for the first time. Plasma lipid concentrations were not affected by feeding rumen-protected choline. Cows fed SB beginning at 28 days prepartum had highe...
متن کاملA field study on glucose, non-esterified fatty acids, beta-hydroxybutyrate and thyroid hormones in dairy cows during the breeding period in Fars province, Iran
Background: It was hypothesized that under apparently good management practices in dairy farms, some cows may not be metabolically perfect during the breeding period and this may affect their performance. Aims: This study was conducted to assess probable metabolic drawbacks in mid-lactation dairy cows affecting their performance. Methods: Thirt...
متن کاملOxidative Stress and Antioxidant Status during Transition Period in Dairy Cows
The study was conducted on 20 Holstein X Sahiwal cross bred dairy cows, with an average milk production of 2,752±113.79 liters in 284±5.75 days during a single lactation, that were divided in to two groups of 10 animals. We investigated the oxidative stress and antioxidant status during the transition period in dairy cows. In this study, plasma level of MDA was considered as an indicator of lip...
متن کاملEffects of increased milking frequency on metabolism and mammary cell proliferation in Holstein dairy cows.
Results of previous studies have shown that increased milking frequency (IMF) during early lactation results in increased milk yield not only during the period of IMF but also after cows have returned to a decreased milking frequency. The cellular mechanisms underpinning this increased milk yield and the overall effects of IMF on metabolism have not been well characterized. The objective of thi...
